Salary Range: $45000-$55000

As an Energy Advisor 1, you will work with an experienced Energy Advisor to learn the commercial energy efficiency industry which includes contacting, enrolling, training, and working with contractors to encourage them to install energy efficient measures for targeted commercial customers throughout Central and Southern Illinois. You will interface with contractors and customers educating them on the energy efficiency program and its benefits. Knowledge of the energy field is not needed; however, a willingness to learn is vital. The individual in this position will have an opportunity to learn about commercial energy efficiency and will work directly with an experienced Energy Advisors who will guide and train. In this position the successful candidate will be given many opportunities to learn various aspects of commercial energy efficiency program delivery.

Duties/Responsibilities on which candidates will be trained:

  • Working with an experienced Energy Advisor to learn the commercial energy efficiency field
  • Educating program allies (contractors) on the benefits of participating in the program.
  • Recruiting, enrolling and training contractors in program delivery.
  • Conducting quality assurance site visits to ensure program allies are delivering program properly.
  • Generating customer leads for program allies.
  • Fielding customer calls to answer program-specific questions.
  • Assigning customer leads to participating program allies.
  • Tracking program allies (contractors) training, projects and quality.
  • Organizing files and reports for immediate access.
  • Participating in scheduled and impromptu calls with program leadership and counterparts
  • Background in HVAC, refrigeration, energy management systems or compressed air technologies is desired but not required

  • Experience in working with electric and gas utilities is desired.

Preferred Experience Includes:

  • Energy efficiency program knowledge
  • Technical experience in HVAC, lighting controls and other energy efficiency measures
  • Distribution channel experience
