Salary Range: $45000-$55000

  • The PV Technician III will lead the operation and maintenance of site equipment and systems in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally correct manner.
  • The PV Technician III shall be an expert in NovaSource Power’s safety culture and industry safety regulations.
  • Leads the safe and reliable start-up, operation, shutdown, and maintenance of the solar PV facility’s equipment and systems. Leads and guides the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all site equipment and systems.
  • The PV Tech III will lead the development of junior personnel.
  • The PV Technician III will drive optimal site performance in full compliance with operating agreements, all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the expert with customers’ site and Industry Safety Programs and standards.
  • Stop unsafe work, report and correct unsafe conditions or hazards. Interface with EHS to ensure the highest safety standards and correct unsafe conditions or hazards
  • Manage site permitting processes, including ensuring completeness of pre-job safety briefs, and managing the LOTO process.
  • Manage site housekeeping standards.
  • Observe and monitor overall site operations, ensuring power production is maintained at an optimal level and efficiency. Coordinate with Operating Control Team, off-takers, and suppliers to ensure safe and optimal operations.
  • Report normal, abnormal, or emergency plant conditions to Management/Owners. Take all necessary corrective action(s) in accordance with established policy, procedure, or at the direction of senior management.
  • Monitor plant equipment and systems for safe, reliable, and efficient performance within contractual limits.
  • Lead site restoration after the abnormal events and significant outages.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements, regional and federal regulations, and company policies. Take appropriate actions as necessary.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting and lead the repair of all field and substation systems and equipment, as applicable.
  • Develop and lead preventive maintenance process for field and substation equipment and systems, as applicable, to support operating agreements and system reliability.
  • Write and lead abnormal switching operations on High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) systems and equipment, including substation equipment and overhead transmission systems, as applicable.
  • Manage and schedule contractors.
  • Create scopes of work for the bidding process.
  • Review investigation results and/or recommendations to ensure operation of site field equipment and assist with substation operation to adjust and maintain proper operation of equipment and systems.
  • Manages the maintenance management system processes to include the review and completion of work orders.
  • Manage site motor vehicle pool.
  • Coordinates with Supply Chain to evaluate site inventory levels to maintain optimum quantities to support business objectives.
  • Lead site training and qualification efforts and relieve into manager’s role.
  • Support the group operations processes (procedures, standing orders, system descriptions, O&M training, etc.).
  • Support company cross-training initiatives.
  • Perform/lead other duties and administrative tasks as assigned by the Site Manager or Senior PV Technician.
  • Willing and available to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime to maintain necessary plant readiness.
  • Must be able to respond to site events in accordance with site contractual requirements.
  • Coaches worker safety and sets an example of working safely.

  • Strong knowledge of solar site systems including fundamentals, systems, and equipment including system inter-relationship, and functional tasks.
  • Expert knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.

Preferred requirements – Qualifications – Minimum Education, Experience, and Drive:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Applicable technical schooling/training preferred
  • At least five years of related experience in the Power Industry, or equivalent qualifications related to the discipline.
  • Expert analytical and technical skills and knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as instrumentation, is required.
  • Ability to manage personnel and schedule work, shifts, overtime, including emergencies and outage maintenance.
  • Advanced computer skills, including solid working knowledge with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with computerized Control Systems required.
  • Ability to work under high-stress situations with minimal supervision.
  • Leadership and strong organization experience required.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
