HVAC/R- Major Appliance Repair Program Technician Program Overview

Description: The HVAC/Refrigeration and Major Appliance Repair Program provides installation, repair and maintenance training for the heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration industry. The program also provides installation and repair training for the major appliance industry.

MTI’s HVAC/Refrigeration and Major Appliance Repair Program includes extensive hands-on training led by instructors with real-world experience who provide each student with the basic knowledge and skills needed to become an entry-level employee in the HVAC/R-MAR industries. MTI’s HVAC classes can be taken in any order.

Successful completion of the program will entitle the student to a diploma in HVAC/R-MAR. The student is also required to take and pass the EPA Section 608* Core certification exams

Commercial Refrigeration Technician

Description: The HVAC Technician certificate program will provide students with the knowledge and skills pertaining to the maintenance and repair of air conditioning systems as well as the following heating systems: natural gas, propane, electric, air source heat pumps, and geothermal heating systems.

The Residential Installer certificate is required to enter this program. Students must complete the Academic Placement Test before admission into this program.

HVAC Residential Installer Certificate

Description: The HVAC Residential Installer Certificate Program provides students with the knowledge and skills to understand and follow the manufacturer's specifications when installing basic residential heating and air-conditioning equipment as well as the skills to complete the installation. Previous experience in residential heating and cooling is not required to enter the program. Graduates can work as entry-level residential furnace and air conditioner installers. The program requires 16 credit hours and one year to complete.
After completion of this program, students can pursue the HVAC Technician Certificate, Commercial Refrigeration Technician Certificate, or HVAC/R Technology Associate in Applied Science Degree.

Description: The Air Conditioning Specialist certificate program provides the practical knowledge of the component parts as well as the diagnostic and repair procedure required to become an air conditioning specialist. Description: This program prepares students to install, service and repair residential and commercial air conditioning, refrigeration and heating systems. Students have the opportunity to specialize in either heat pump systems and/or sheet metal and duct work design.
