Position Overview

The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the state’s lead division serving people with disabilities committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and racial justice. The mission of the Division is to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals of employment, education, and independent living. This position coordinates day to day activities including special projects of a complex and confidential nature for the Bureau of Planning and Strategic Management/Assistive and Information Technology Manager. The Division is seeking a candidate with exemplary organizational and communication skills and who is detail oriented and able to carry out assignments with limited oversight.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as administrative support for the Bureau Planning and Strategic Management/Assistive and Information Technology Manager handling special projects, some of which are complex and confidential in nature.
  2. Coordinates the day-to-day activities of this Section, including, but not limited to, publishing and approval of intranet content, maintaining the intranet staff directory, managing information technology requests, and managing assistive technology requests.
  3. Assists staff in researching and staying abreast of assistive technologies, assistive technology service providers, and assistive technology vendors for use by Division field staff in serving customers and/or staff with disabilities.
  4. Performs administrative functions for the Manager.
  5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably with the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  2. Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively (written and orally) and coordinating day to day activities that lead to greater efficiencies and effectiveness within a division or bureau.
  2. Two (2) years of professional experience working for a public or private organization, in a social or human services field, maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
  3. One (1) year of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail while multitasking multiple projects.
  4. One (1) year of professional experience developing and maintaining professional working relationships with staff, customers, vendors and public and encouraging respect for those of other cultures and background.
  5. One (1) year of professional experience utilizing computer software such as Microsoft office suites in the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and presentations in an accessible format for various audiences.
  6. One (1) year of professional experience researching issues and concerns in preparation of reports and correspondence to staff, customers, public, and/or internal/external stakeholder.
